Blue Yonder – Japan Commemorative Edition – Pilot
On first hearing Beaglehat songs I immediately heard the 70's influence. The style of writing and playing is very similar to Pilot, so much so that it is difficult to tell which songs have been written be me and which songs are written by members of Beaglehat. I have really enjoyed this collaboration and was happy to contribute 2 songs of my own.
The band are all very talented players and the song writing is excellent. They have managed to recapture the magic and spark of an era full of imagination catchy melodies, intricate harmonies, great musicianship and ground breaking ideas. Marquee's plan was to release a compilation album taken from Beaglehat's first 2 albums with 2 songs sung in English by a major British singer. They asked me (one of the band's favourite vocalists) to sing on the album. I agreed and began recording the vocals for 2 tracks.
The collaboration went so well and seemed so natural that they expanded the project to have me record lead vocals for the entire album.
